  • Generating Insight traces during CI builds

They say a little knowledge is dangerous...

Spring Insight uses aspects to intercept various calls, and log trace data.

The /insight webapp then allows that trace data to be viewed.

I'd like to be able to run Insight during our Maven builds on our build server - a task that would not be too tricky given that the aspect weaving is easy to achieve using the AspectJ agent (i.e. JVM args -javaagentathto/aspectjweaver.jar).

What's missing from being able to view what happened during the build is:
    - the ability to specify to Insight that it should output the trace data to an XML or JSON file.
    - the ability to load a trace into a running instance of the insight webapp (i.e. through the web UI).

Does this sound like something others would use?

For us, it would be great for us to be able to see why some of our tests which access the database are taking rather a long time, and how we might speed them up.
