  • forms and validation in struts+SWF integration

We have a struts app into which we are about integrate SWF.

Now, of course, the existing app is using old-style struts forms and validator and we would want to keep this as is for the moment - i.e. not refactor existing code until we have implemented a seperately testable use-case which uses SWF.

So we have a choice here - use SWF in the new use case implementation with old-style forms and validation or use Spring's POJO-based data binding and validation.

Can anyone give me an idea of the learning curve going from one(Struts form management) to the other(Spring form management)? What would be the advantages of the latter over the former?

I'm sure Keith can give you a lot more information and I can't really comment on the learning curve, but the big advantage of Spring form management is that it is based on POJOs, where in Struts you are forced to subclass ActionForm. In most cases this allows you to reuse your business model POJOs as form backing objects, avoiding the need for all those extra action form DTOs.
