  • Posting a message on friend's wall in Facebook by using spring social

    Hi ,

I tried using spring social facebook api to to post a message on friend's wall in Facebook, but am unable to find a way.
Is it possible to post a message on friend's wall in Facebook ? if so , can you please provide the api details ?.

it would be great if you can provide the steps to achieve it.

    Thanks in advance

Have you tried FeedOperations.post(ownerId, message)? That should do what you need it to do, assuming that the app has been granted the authority to post to a friend's wall.

      Hi ,

Thanks a lot . we are able to post by FeedOperations.post(ownerId, message).

We are trying to post messages to facebook of our users by using below approaches
      1. API ( spring social )
      2. Sharer ( given by Facebook)

Facebook provides a sharer option , by using that we can bring face book screen ,where user can post the message, in a web application , which is similar to below link .

      https://www.facebook.com/sharer/shar...xt=Test+Mylist

Is there any way to invoke that screen from spring social from web app ?

      Thanks,
      Srini

No, you can't use Spring Social to post through that page. Spring Social's Facebook API binding is bound to Facebook's Graph API. That page may be built on top of the Graph API (or FB's old REST API), but it is not an API itself.

That said, you should be able to perform most of the function of that page through Spring Social's Facebook API binding. FeedOperations.post() (or FeedOperations.updateStatus() ) should handle most of the cases and PageOperations.post() should handle the case for pages.
