  • JdbcUsersConnectionRepository DB initialization?

Should I be expecting the sql script defined at org/springframework/social/connect/jdbc/JdbcUsersConnectionRepository.sql to be run by Spring-Social or is it something the app is responsible for?

Its not getting run in at least some cases and I work around it by running it from the app DB bootstrap logic. OTOH, it seems like it would be documented and made more accessible if the intent was for the app to incorporate it in its DB definitions.

    Best regards,

    Gabe

No, that script will not be run automatically for you. If you look at some of the sample applications, you'll see that it's used in the configuration to bootstrap the database. For example the Spring Social Showcase uses it in https://github.com/SpringSource/spri...ainConfig.java.

In a production setting, it probably makes more sense to apply the change to your database as an administrative task in advance of running the application and not as a configuration/bootstrap activity at runtime.

I do agree that the location and use of this file could be made more apparent (the reference documentation only briefly mentions it). I've created https://jira.springsource.org/browse/SOCIAL-241 to make this more clear. Feel free to comment on that issue if there's anything specific that you think would make using this script more clear.

      Hi Craig,

Thanks for the pointer. I vaguely remember seeing the init logic but lost track of it. Also thanks for all the great work on Spring-social and keep it coming
