Hi I am using Spring Roo and I have a BAD problem with encoding...

    1. I know that I have a problem with request and response being encoded in ISO-8859-1 even though I need utf8
    2. I know what I write in java code and need to be encoded in utf8 gets dumped as macRoman (using mac os x)

I would appreciate the solution to either of these problems... I tried everything I could think of... I tried adding a character encoding filter (placed it first in web.xml)

All files are for sure utf8 and have the headers set right...

Tomcat has UriEncoding set tu utf8

.... The only thing that I can still think of and am not really sure of:
setting request.setCharacterEncoding somewhere but not sure where cause roo doesnt deal with HttpServletRequests and responses as I am used to from from classes extending HttpServlet. Any ideas?

Hi as it seems there has been a JIRA issued ticket for this ...

The ORDER OF FILTERS IN WEB.XML is the key for half of the problem:

    0. security filter if you are using it...
    1. httpmethodfilter
    2. characterencodingfilter
    3. anyother

But now I still have a problem with MySQL and utf8 encoding? I DB is utf8 and the results get presented in iso-8859-1 How do I fix it?
