  • Tablibs in custom tag library / taglib as 'preprocessor'

    Hi guys,

so far I've only seen that a custom tag library overwrote TagSupport's doStartTag() and wrote data directly to the response there - only pure HTML. How can I make my tag library behave like it would write to a 'normal' JSP? So I can use <spring:bind>, <fmt:message> etc. in my taglib as well - so it behaves as kind of a preprocessor.

I'd like to define something like '<my:springInput>' and render a spring:bind, a input field etc. out of this.

Or maybe there is already something like this?

    Lots of thanks in advance,
    Simon

If you're on Tomcat 5, or any other JSP 2.0 container, you can use a .tag file.

      Hi,

thanks for your answer, but I think that Tomcat 5, respectively JSP 2.0 is not yet that commonly used that you can rely on it.

If there is any other chance to solve this problem, please let me know.

      Kind regards,
      Simon
