    when will EL can be used in Spring MVC along side JSTL? any plans?

    Not sure what you mean. EL is used in JSTL which can be used in Spring MVC.

      Just a guess here, but if you're trying to get this to work but haven't yet, a common "gotcha" is an incorrect <web-app> tag in your web.xml. It should look like this:

      <web-app version="2.4"
      xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"
      xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
      xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee web-app_2_4.xsd">

            i meant out-of-box support of JSTL/EL as in JSP2 and Servlet2.4 :oops:
