  • ContextLoaderListener not fired on reload

    Hi.

    I'm using tomcat 5.5.4
When i deploy my war, everything works fine (using ant/tomcat deployer)
But if i make a change and then undeploy/redeploy and/or reload the app. the ContextListener doesn't seem to get the events and therefore the app context isn't loaded. This means that I have to stop and restart tomcat everytime i make a change.

    Is this the proper behavior?

I've even used the tomcat manager app directly and there's no change.... still have to recycle the server.

    Any thoughts?

    OK,
I've found a little more info...
Apparently, if you deploy a war file using ant and you have unpackWars="true" in your server.xml, everything will deploy fine, but the undeploy breaks.

the solution I found posted elsewhere was to set unpackWars="false".
I would have no problem with this except for the fact that hibernate requires the mapping files to be somewhere on the physical filesystem, not packaged in a jar or war file.

This means my war has to be exploded, but in turn means I'm back to my initial problem.... using a war and an expanded folder in tomcat breaks the undeploy, which in turn makes a re-deploy useless.
