  • <spring> tags vs. <form> tags

    Hello all:

I'm a newcomer to Spring MVC and I have been scouring material both online and in books for uses of tags in JSPs. I see the use of <spring> tags and the use of <form> tags. <spring> tags seem to be more versatile. Yet <form> tags seem to be the preferred set to use with Spring 2.0. Is it a matter of personal taste or does one provide what the other can't? Which is proper to use now? Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Eric

you should be able to pretty much do anything you need to do with <form> tags (and probably some basic JSTL tags) on your page.

And like the above poster said... less coding

As stated before in 99% of the cases the form tags provide enough functionality. For those rare cases (and backwards compatibility) you can use the spring bind tags, which are more versatile and also more verbose.

You can mix them (inside a form:form tag) if you want, nothing is preventing that.
