  • Strecks (Struts Extensions for Java 5)

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience using Strecks (Struts Extensions for Java 5).

I have had a brief look and from the surface it looks like a great improvement, it has IoC support, POJO actions, improved form validation, data binding and conversion using annotation... there is even talk of implementing an adapter for the Spring MVC View and ViewResolver interfaces.

The reason I ask is that where I am working we use Struts and have done for a number of years. I don't hate Struts (it does the job) but sometimes I feel that there has to be a better way. I think I would have a hard job introducing a new MVC framework into the mix like WebWork or even Springs. Using Strecks looks like it could provide many benefits to the Struts framework without having to ditch everything we've learnt and implemented.

Any thoughts on this framework would be gratefully received.

It's pretty straightforward to try out ... you can decide for yourself whether you like it. See http://strecks.sourceforge.net/doc-setup.php.
