  • JSF + Spring and Apache Tomcat 7

I am currently playing around with JSF for the first time and I now have a simple self contained JSF webapp which has a single ViewScoped ManagedBean.

I now want to start developing the backend service layer which shall hold the data model which is presented to the user via the ManagedBean... It is relatively straight forwards for the ManageBean to acquire the service interface to retreive the data mode using Spring IOC..

However I am struggling to figure out how can you get the managedBean to listen to changes on the data model and notify updates to the user? the only approach I can think of is to pole the backend services for changes which is not desireable

Any tips or suggestions would be greatful..
