  • RestTemplate against non-conforming service

Hello, I need to integrate against a service that consumes and produces JSON, but with the following peculiarities :

    1) it only accepts POST methods, the JSON payload is a post parameter.
    2) application type is always application/text for both requests and responses

Can I still use the RestTemplate and the MappingJacksonHttpMessageConverter for this ?

This quote from http://blog.springsource.com/2009/03...-resttemplate/ seems to indicate the the HttpMessageConverters are not executed when postForObject is called ?

"Objects passed to and returned from the methods getForObject(), postForLocation(), and put() and are converted to HTTP requests and from HTTP responses by HttpMessageConverters."

    Any insight greatly appreciated.
