  • Best practice question - Spring WS as a consumer of external services

I am working on a project that intends to use Spring WS 1.5.8 in a JBoss 4.2.3 AS-based application.

The application will be a consumer of several web services, all of which are defined, implemented, and exposed on a separate system. We only have access to the WSDLs.

I have been instructed to develop a service access layer using Spring WS. I was told that on JBoss, Spring WS can make it very easy in terms of generating client stubs, proxy classes, etc. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a good tutorial to explain how to do this, ideally in a way that decouples my application code from anything that gives away details of the specific web service implementations on the other end.

I hope my questions make sense. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
