  • Need For Bean Mappings When Using WSDL2Java

I'm using Spring WS with Axis 1.4. I generate the stubs/helpers using WSDL2Java which contains the mappings (de)/serializers. After adding in the type mappings inside 'postProcessJaxRpcService' as documented in the Spring doco I was wondering if this step was required because the mappings are already created by Axis (as just mentioned).

When I removed my mappings from 'postProcessJaxRpcService' all still worked well so are they needed/if this best practice to further encapsulate web service implementation code ?I tried removing the axis helper classes, adding back in the Spring type mappings but got issues with deserializing a BigDecimal attribute (may be another issue) but all looked well so have reverted back to axis type mappings.

The web service I'm consuming is a .Net document/literal so I use registry.register("", mapping) as documented in these forums.
