  • Bootsrap issue on Ubuntu?

    Hi.

I'm on ubuntu 8.04 32-bit, and installed STS 2.3.3.M2 from the tar.gz file (not the self-installing version). I've created a project from an external ANT file which compiles and runs in my standalone instance of tomcat6 just fine.

however, when I try to run it in STS I get

    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina
    ..eetc...

Other relavant info: This is after adding bootstrap.jar, tomcat-juli.jar, tools.jar, insight-bootstrap-tc-server....jar, and aspectjweaver...jar into the classpath for the run / debug configuration manually. (Since that is somehow what my colleage running on windows has...)

Invocation: I run ./STS from the command line, and also have a startup icon in the applications | programming menu that does the same thing.

So a question I have in all this is do I need to set the CATALINA_HOME and CATALINA_BASE env variables myself manually? If so, to what? (With the standalone version of tomcat, the startup.sh script seems to set it itself based on where it is executed from and outputs the settings when you run the script.)

    please advise.

    thanks,
    Artyom
