  • New update site URLs

    Hello,

in an effort to consolidate the download locations of the different Spring Portfolio products we moved the Eclipse update sites for Spring IDE to Amazon S3.

Here are the new update site URLs:

You can browse the new update site at http://s3browse.com/explore/dist.spr...g/release/IDE/.

Appropriate 301 forwards have been installed on the springide.org server. The Eclipse update manager should handle redirects to the new location transparently.

Please report any problems that you might encounter with the new locations.

    Updatesite URL not working

Just tried to fetch updates for Spring IDE. But the URL doesen't work.

    Following error in Eclipse :

Network connection problems encountered during search.
Unable to access "the url given above".
Unable to access site: "the url given above" [Server returned HTTP response code: "502 Proxy Error ( No data record is available. )"

This can be a proxy error on our side. but I can reach all the other update sites so I think it's not likely to be an error on our side.

      Did you use this url:

      http://dist.springframework.org/release/IDE

The springide.org site seems to be down at the moment.

This really looks like an error on our side, rulien.

Works like a charm outside the company network.

Here's how I installed Spring IDE

I finally got Spring_IDE installed and here's how I did it.

I started with a clean install.
Make sure you have a clean Spring IDE installation by deleting every file & folder in the "features" & "plugins" directories that begins with "org.springframework"

Go to: http: //springide.org/blog/ (half-way down the page)
            (no space after http

            Download: spring-ide_updatesite_2.2.1_v200811281800.zip
            & unpack (extract) it.

            cd spring-ide_updatesite_2.2.1_v200811281800

Inside, make a folder, It must be named "eclipse".

Drag the features & plugins folder and the site.xml file into the new eclipse folder.

Create a new folder "Spring_IDE" & drag the new eclipse folder into it.

            OK? OK

Go to where your <Eclipse_Home> folder is and create a new folder along-side of it
The name does'nt matter, but I named mine: "eclipse_plugins"

Drop the newly created Spring_IDE folder into the new eclipse_plugins folder

            OK? OK

            Here is the cool part.
Instead of dumping the contents of the plugin and features folders into the eclipse features & plugin folders, We are going to link the new plugin into eclipse.

            Here's how!

Go into your <eclipse_home> folder (where you installed eclipse) & create a folder called "links"
(The folder must be called links)

            cd links
Now, create a file called "Spring_IDE.link"
(The file must have a .link extension)

            Insert this line into it:
            path=<some directory>/eclipse_plugins/Spring_IDE

<some directory> is where you decided to create the "eclipse_plugins" folder.

            The Spring_IDE folder (inside <some directory>eclipse_plugins/ ) holds eclipse/features/*, eclipse/plugins/* & eclipse/site.xml

(This is the other way of installing a plugin.) I like it better than the dump method.

            OK now restart eclipse

Eclipse will automatically check for a link directory and will read all the .link files for plugin paths and will install them.

Go to Help -> Software Updates -> Add Site

            Insert: http: //dist.springframework.org/release/IDE
            (no space after http

            Click "OK"

Click the "Spring IDE Update Site" box

            then

            Click "Install"

Wait a few minutes and till it installs.
(My installation found the missing files from a previous installation attemp)

            Close and reopen Eclipse and

            It's SPRING TIME! Baby!

              The upatesite URL not working?

              Hi,

I'm trying to install spring IDE following the update site URL: http://dist.springframework.org/release/IDE

              but it is not reachable?

Is there any alternative URL for spring IDE?

              Thanks

Go to: http: //springide.org/blog/ (half-way down the page)
(no space after http) means remove the space after http:
I had to do it this way because I'm new to this forum and it was the only for me to get the url to you. They don't allow new users to add urls to a post.

Just remove the space char after http: and you'll go to the right page.

Why are there no feature entries for "Dependencies" in the latest site.xml? I was hoping to install the IDE on RAD 7.0.x where I need (according to the install instructions) the dependencies.

Installing Spring IDE on Eclipse 3.2.x

                      Hi,

I want to install Spring IDE on RAD 7.0.x which is based on Eclipse on 3.2.x. I navigate to Help -> Software Updated -> Find and install ...

The remote site URL is set to http://dist.springframework.org/release/IDE.

I click Finish. Here is the problem. When I check Spring IDE -> Core I get the error as showed on attached image.

I want to install Spring IDE 2.1. How do I accomplish this?

                      Best regards

                      Lasse
