  • the springapp sample -- jstl.jar and standard.jar

I am using eclipse 3.3.1 and the 2.01 Spring IDE plugin, and I am trying to follow the instructions in "Developing a Spring Framework MVC application step-by-step", http://www.springframework.org/docs/...tep/index.html.

I got to to "2.1. Configure JSTL and add JSP header file", http://www.springframework.org/docs/...2.html#step2.1,
when I ran into something that raises a question.

    I created "'springapp/war/WEB-INF/jsp/include.jsp", i.e.:

    <%@ page session="false"%>
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
    <%@ taglib prefix="fmt" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/fmt" %>

and eclipse flags the URI's as errors, saying: "Cannot find the tag library descriptor for ...yada, yada, yada"

Now mind you, I did copy jstl.jar and standard.jar to 'springapp/war/WEB-INF/lib/'.

To solve this problem, I went to the Project / Properties / Java Build Path dialog and added the jstl.jar and standard.jar as external jars and eclipse became happy.

    Now here is my questions:

I can go to the Project / Properties / Java Build Path dialog, invoke Add JARs, and navigate to the "springapp/war/WEB-INF/lib/" directory where I can see:
    commons-loging.jar
    junit-3.8.2.jar
    spring.jar
    spring-wbmvc.jar
and ONLY these jar files, even though, in the file system, that directory also contains:
    jstl.jar
    standard.jar
Why doesn't eclipse display all of the jar files in that directory, and why do I have to add the taglib jar files as exernal jars???
Working...
