  • Spring IDE installation killed my eclipse

    Hello, community!
I had a little surprise installing the Spring IDE with Eclipse 3.2.2.. After installation using update manager (from here) my eclipse refuses to start.
Being not very experienced with eclipse's nuts and bolts, I am crying for help
Should I reinstall the eclipse now? (attached is a snippet of the workbench log file)

    Thanks in advance !

    Hi,

at this point I would recommend that you remove all plugins and features from Spring IDE (delete every jar and folder in features and plugins that start with org.springframework.*) and reinstall Spring IDE from the given update site.

What version of Spring IDE have you installed?

Thank you, cdupuis, I will try to clean up, hopefully can recover..
I believe the version is 1.3.6 (feature named org.springframework.ide.eclipse_1.3.6).
Installed it few minutes ago actually..

After removing all installed features and plugins, the IDE still won't start
Something went really wrong I figure..

I would like to recommend to start from scratch with a clean install of Eclipse 3.2.2 with WebTools 1.5.3 from the Callisto updatesite as described here. Make sure that Eclipse and WebTools are installed correctly.

Now you can continue installing Spring IDE as described here.

              Problem with http://springide.org/updatesite

If for Spring IDE any one has problem with http://springide.org/updatesite then use this........

              http://dist.springframework.org/release/IDE/site.xml
