  • Trouble downloading STS 3.2.0 for Mac 64-bit

    Hi all,

    FYI, I tried to download the Mac 64-bit installer for STS 3.2.0 based on eclipse Juno 4.2 twice and got checksum errors after trying to open the .dmg. Download url was http://www.springsource.org/downloads/sts-ggts.

    Anyone else have trouble?

    Hey Matthew!

    I checked this again, downloaded this file to my machine:
    spring-tool-suite-3.2.0.RELEASE-e4.2.2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64-installer.dmg

    The MD5 and SHA1 checksums that you can download are fine and the installer.dmg opens up just fine. Can you check those checksums on your machine to see if the download corrupted the file somehow:

    md5 spring-tool-suite-3.2.0.RELEASE-e4.2.2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64-installer.dmg
    openssl sha1 spring-tool-suite-3.2.0.RELEASE-e4.2.2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64-installer.dmg

    HTH,
    Martin

      I just downloaded the file again and tried to open with the same failure:
      Attachment

      I grabbed the MD5 & SHA1 hashes from the website, and neither of them matched:

      From Website Calculated
      MD5 5144278b8423532bfd785221fe07e84f a69dd6b4267235c013805abb4ee0ecfd
      SHA1 bc9a81f2d94d5b93cad5d306c73c3854b1418c74 e3922a8b8d1b8ce9bfe8655247153eb398084b6a
      Here's my terminal log:
      Code:
      matthew@newt:~/Downloads
      $ md5 spring-tool-suite-3.2.0.RELEASE-e4.2.2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64-installer.dmg
      MD5 (spring-tool-suite-3.2.0.RELEASE-e4.2.2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64-installer.dmg) = a69dd6b4267235c013805abb4ee0ecfd
      matthew@newt:~/Downloads
      $ openssl sha1 spring-tool-suite-3.2.0.RELEASE-e4.2.2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64-installer.dmg
      SHA1(spring-tool-suite-3.2.0.RELEASE-e4.2.2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64-installer.dmg)= e3922a8b8d1b8ce9bfe8655247153eb398084b6a
      Looks like something's amiss...

        Hey!

        I get the checksums from the website for the downloaded file. Maybe there is a proxy server or virus scanner involved?

          I'm downloading from my home Internet connection. I don't have a proxy server and I don't have a virus scanner installed. The .tar.gz version checks out fine. What gives?

            This is strange... There must be a file corruption going on somewhere... What happens if you download the file from the http://dist.springsource.com/... location instead of "http://download.springsource.com/..." ?

              Downloaded http://dist.springsource.com/release...-installer.dmg. Took longer, but same deal.

              I'm not DITW since I could use the .tar.gz format. No worries, really.

                Hey!

                Good to know that this issue doesn't block you, but it is still somewhat strange and I would love to know what is causing this. What happens if you download (and try to use) the 32bit installer for OSX? Not saying you should use that instead of the 64bit one, just wondering whether the same checksum problem appears...
