  • "Available Software Sites" empty

    Hi,

I just updated STS to 3.0.0 and my "Available Software Sites" is empty, what do I put in to get STS to check for updates?

    Thanks,
    Gabriel

    Hey Gabriel!

What exactly do you mean with "updated STS to 3.0.0"? We don't recommend to update an existing 2.9.x (or older) version to STS 3.0.0. You should please start with a fresh STS 3.0.0 installation.

It depends on your base Eclipse version that you are using what should show up in the available software sites preferences. The general information about this can be found here:

      Hi Martin,

ops, sorry, when I said upgraded I meant downloaded the new version, deleted the old and replaced it with the new one. So taking that into account, do you know what is wrong?

      Thanks,
      Gabriel

        Hey Gabriel!

Not yet sure what went wrong with your installation. So it sounds like you installed a fresh copy of STS 3.0.0 (installer or ZIP), started that with a fresh and new workspace, and there is no update site showing up for you in the "Available Software Sites" preference?

If you are on Windows, please keep in mind to not install into the "Program Files" area (that is treated very special by Windows 7).

Yes, that is correct. I am not using windows but Ubuntu Linux. It is installed in /opt. Can you pls send me the list of things that should be in there so I can add them manually?

            Hey!

The two default update sites are:

            Juno: http://download.eclipse.org/releases/juno
SpringSource Update Site for Eclipse 4.2: http://dist.springsource.com/release/TOOLS/update/e4.2

            HTH,
            Martin
