  • spring IDE and spring 2.0

    hi;
    can spring IDE work with spring 2.0?
    does beans xml editor support the new XML configuration features (code completion for new tags etc)?
    if not, what the time frame for such support?
    thanks

    Hi,

    we are currently investigating on how to support the new Spring 2.0 Xml configuration features. I've created a ticket over at springide.org which tracks the progress of the work. Check out the ticket here http://springide.org/project/ticket/188.

    Regarding the Xml code completion features, I think these should be available with the WTP based Beans Xml Editor out of the box. But I havn't tried that yet.

    There is not yet any timeframe available, but we are definitly working on that.

    Cheers

    Christian

      No. The beans config validator of Spring IDE 1.2.4 doesn't know anything about the new XML schema-based configuration.

      Yes and no. Yes for the code completion of the schema-based configuration. How to activate it for Spring IDE 1.2.4 is described here.

      No for the other features of the beans config XML editor, e.g. outline view or local bean ref completion.

      We are currently investigating the integration of Spring 2.0's schema-based configuration. The validator is already updated to support the DTD-based configuration fully and schema-based configurations partly (only minor errors like validation of rules defined in schema are handled). All the hard stuff (extending Spring IDE's internal model to schema-magic, parsing schema with preserving line-numbers and correct exception handling, ...) has to be done yet.

      If anyone is interested in the source-code of this early version of Spring IDE then take a look in the branch "branches/dev-tjuerge/spring2" of Spring IDE's Subversion repository "http://springide.org/repos". Further details regarding the repository access can be found here.

      Cheers,
      Torsten
