  • STS unable to save files in directory created with Cygwin on Windows 7

I have a maven project created from the command line in a Cygwin shell. When I import this project into STS, any code changes I make in STS cannot be saved back to the file system (get 'Unable to save file' errors).

If I start STS with Admin privs then everythings ok. Does STS need admin privs on Windows 7 to run, or am I running into some Cygwin directory permissions wierdness?

Not sure I've seen this behavior in vanilla Eclipse before, only with STS. Any thoughts?

    Hi!

I am aware of problems running STS on Windows 7 when installed into the "Program Files" directory. You should definitely avoid that. Your description sounds related, but not like exactly the same issue. Where is your project and workspace located? In your users home directory somewhere? That should be fine, however I have no experience using Cygwin on Windows 7... Anybody else experienced Cygwin problems like this?

    Cheers,
    -Martin
