  • Updates in STS result in Read timed out on Win7_64

    Hi everyone,

I have been struggling to get STS 2.8.0.RELEASE running on my new 64 bit Windows 7 based laptop. STS installs without issue, but when I open the tool, it will hang while building the workspace. After some time, it will complete the action. When trying to install any other components into the IDE, I get the same hang while trying to communicate with [http://dist.springsource.com/release/TOOLS/update/e3.7]. I have reinstalled several times, trying to vary the installation directory, the JDK (1.6.0_27,1.6.0_29,1.7.0_01). In every case, I downloaded the 64bit version of JDK and STS. I have ensured that when installing, I am running the install with admin privs and even tried running STS.exe with admin priveleges. I have made various jvm adjustments in the STS.ini which were suggested in various forums from people who had similar errors.

I know that was a lot of info, but I have been working on this problem in my spare time for almost two weeks and still cannot resolve. I apologize in advance if there is a solution posted somewhere for this problem, but as you can hopefully tell, I have done my homework and came up empty. Please let me know if there is anything else I can check.

    Here is the error message:

    Fixed

Well shortly after I posted this, someone else had made mention in another thread that Kaspersky Internet Security might be the root cause of the issue. After disabling this, it worked. I am posting this repons in case someone else comes across the same problem again in the future.
