  • unable to Grails extension to STS 2.7.1 version

Today I installed STS 2.7.1, as part of the grails installation from the extension I selected Groovy Eclipse and Grails (Current production release) and installed. When I tried to open a new Grails project I am getting the following error

The org.eclipse.jdt.ui.javaElementFilters plug-in extension "com.springsource.ide.grails.ui.hideSourceFoldersF ilters" specifies a viewer filter class which does not exist.
Plug-in com.springsource.sts.grails.ui was unable to load class com.springsource.sts.grails.ui.internal.filter.Pac kageExplorerFilter.
An error occurred while automatically activating bundle com.springsource.sts.grails.ui (934).

Could you please let me what went wrong here...

    Thanks
    Ben

Can you have a look at the STS error log and see if there is a stack trace associated with this problem?

Thanks for this. It looks like your user.home system property is not set up properly. I don't know why this would be the case, but you could try forcing it by adding something like this to the command line when you start STS (or in the STS.ini):

          Mac/Linux:

          Code:
          -vmargs -Duser.home=/Users/username
          Windows
          Code:
          -vmargs -Duser.home=C:\path\to\user\home

I made a change such that future versions of STS will have a more understandable error message when this happens.

I'm kind of new to using sts and after I reformatted my comp today and reinstalled sts 2.7.1 and the Grails extension I now get the same error as above but when I try to add that code to the STS.ini it says "access denied" I'm using windows 64-bit (if that matters). Also a little more detail on what that code is might help me too.

                Thanks for the help!

I have found these other threads:

                  http://forum.springsource.org/archiv.../t-103065.html
                  http://forum.springsource.org/showth...t-on-STS-2.5.2

And my documents folder is mapped to my B: drive but my OS is installed on the C: drive. I was able to understand that this fact might matter but I did not understand how to fix it...

Never mind my question I got it working. The solution stated above did end up working once I finally figured out how to use it. Also I thought that "Duser.home" was supposed to be set equal to the path of the workspace not my user directory:

                    -vmargs
                    -Duser.home=C:\Users\Bob
                    -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
Also I realized that my libraries ONLY point to the folders on my second drive but my user account still existed on the C: drive. Also I was trying to create the work space on the B: which wasn't working but when I created the workspace on the C: drive (the same drive springsource and my user account are on) it finally worked
