  • Why does UserDetails extend Serializable?

Isn't that a decision for each application? Now I need to hassle with serialVersionUID all over the place.

I am still new to the Java world....can someone enlighten me?

Everything stored in an HTTP session should be serializable.

Now I need to hassle with serialVersionUID all over the place.
You don't have to add a serialVersionUID just because a class is serializable.

      Thanks for the response.

But what if I am writing a rich client application and just need the method security? Then I don't have to worry about http sessions.
