  • Spring Security 2.0.3 Released

    Dear Spring Community

We're pleased to an announce the release of Spring Security 2.0.3.

This is a minor bugfix release. There are no changes to the security namespace (and hence no 2.0.3 schema file).

Please note that as of this release we are also deprecating the use of container adapters. These will not be included in the next major release.

To see what's new you can browse the changelog.

You can download the latest version from

    SpringSecurity Pre-auth Samples

In the reference doc there is a mention of samples/preauth folder that shows the preauth examples.

However when I downloaded Spring Security 2.0.3 I found only Contacts and bigBank application.

Could you please let me know the location for preauth sample?

      Check out

When on that site it says the samples are in samples/preauth. But the spring security zip does not contain such a directory. It only has contacts and bigbank examples.

"There are several sample web applications that are available with the project. To avoid an overly large download, only the "tutorial" and "contacts" samples are included in the distribution file. You can either build the others yourself, or you can obtain the war files individually from the central Maven repository. We'd recommend the former. You can get the source as described in the introduction and it's easy to build the project using Maven."

The paths are relative to the checked out source.

what is difference between Spring Security 2.0.3 and Acegi Security 1.0.7 which one to use please clarify.

            • #7
Spring has "abducted" Acegi, making it part of the framework. Just forget acegi, Spring Security is the same with another name, and the supported one. Acegi is going to be discontinued.
