  • Opening hyperlinks from Powerpoint presentation mode

    Hi,

When we use powerpoint presentation mode (or even MS word) containing a hyperlink to a spring security enable website, we noticed that the original request (hyperlink) is lost after the user has authenticated. The SPRING_SECURITY_SAVED_REQUEST_KEY is set to null and the default-target-url is shown. This does only happens when opening from powerpoint presentation mode and MS Word; not via direct links or other webpages or PDF. Any thoughts on this?

    regards, Mark

We managed to resolved this. Apparently, Word and Powerpoint check hyperlinks before the browser is started. So what happens is:
    Hyperlink: /view/get.do?file=abc
    1. Powerpoint opens get.do?file=abc (not visible for a user)
    2. Our Spring security config redirects to loginform.jsp (and SPRING_SECURITY_SAVED_REQUEST_KEY is available)
    3. Powerpoint opens using an internet browser loginform.jsp instead of get.do; the SPRING_SECURITY_SAVED_REQUEST_KEY is not set.

We managed to workaround this using a temp cookie.
