  • Best practice for Roo database admin from Roo application (native SQL?)

    Hi,

I develop a 24/7 Roo based application that uses HSQLDB memory tables and hibernate.

I need to do some administration tasks on the database but stoping the application is not an option. So I need to do the admin of the database from my Roo application.

Admin tasks are delete old entries, backup and defrag tables. I can do the delete from the domain objet using the entity manager (which is not nice IMHO) but backup and defrag commands are rejected by JPA.

I would like to create a specific admin service. What would be the best way to do this? Native SQL using eg JdbcTemplate and specific transaction? But what's about the entity manager cache when doing so?

    Thank you
