  • Pizza Shop Example (still) Prompting for JSON download in IE8

So I've complied and run the pizzashop example and launched it from IE8.

The pizzashop example has two sets of controllers, one for the regular text/mvc and one for json. But it seems that through IE it's hitting the JSON controller and ie prompts the user for the location where the user wants to download the JSON file.

There's another thread about this but there's no clear resolution to me from the spring side, and the workaround the user had suggested throws a comple error for me. There seems to be a JIRA case about this issue but it's listed as fixed. It's not fixed. I'm using <spring.version>3.1.1.RELEASE</spring.version>

Can anyone help? This one is very easy to reproduce, just launch the pizza shop example from IE8.

    Thanks in advance everyone.

Anyone? Can we log a bug about this in JIRA?

It seems like the solution would be somehow to use the ContentNegotiatingViewResolver, as outlined in this post:

I've seen other people with a similar problem:

It would just be nice if spring would fix their samples.
