  • Can we use Acegi Security in Spring roo Application

    Hi,

I have used Acegi Security in my Grails Application, Now I am working on Spring roo project and I need to implement Acegi Security i.e. All functionality provided in Acegi.

Is it possible to use it, or is there any other addon or facility provided for Spring roo.

I have tried spring-roo-addon-typical-security, but in this permission and audit logging module is not available.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Rohit

    Hi Rohit,

Spring Security has superseded Acegi Security a few years ago. Spring Roo supports Spring Roo with the 'security setup' command.

      Hi Stefan

      Thanks for the reply,

I have used spring security but I need something more i.e I have to implement Roles, Permissions to manage access, User Groups.
According to my understanding "security setup" give facility of Log in and User Creation, as Acegi security provide all User, Role, Role_User and Requestmap.

So, Can you please provide anything i.e any addon or plugin to implement all this stuff.

      Thanks & Regards,
      Rohit

        Hi Rohit,

Spring Security has all the features Acegi Security had (since its successor) so you can implement Roles, Permissions etc. You can find the docs here http://static.springsource.org/sprin...gsecurity.html.

Currently the Spring Security add-on offered by Roo is indeed quite limited. You can find a number of improvement ideas here https://jira.springsource.org/browse/ROO-532. So right now you would need to implement these things yourself.

There is however an external add-on available here http://code.google.com/p/spring-roo-...ical-security/. You can try that and see if it fits your needs.

        HTH,
        Stefan
