    When writing a transformer, you have to properly copy the headers; but it's better to make your transformer a POJO.

      I did make my transformer as POJO and still not able to propagate the exception. But the essence of my thread is to propagate the server exception back to the client which is not happening.

        Run with debug logging and all should be clear; if you can't figure it out, post the log here.

          I may miss something, but I see your inbound endpoint is <http:inbound-gateway>.
          Try to implement as a bean your own HandlerExceptionResolver: http://static.springsource.org/sprin...eptionhandlers
