  • "Asynchronous" HTTP Outbound Request

I have configured SI to manage a client HTTP request to an existing REST services layer, and things are working well. I have received a new requirement though that has puzzled me, so I was hoping to get some insight here.

When the client sends the request, I will need to use SI to extract some information out of it and forward it on in another HTTP request to a different REST service. Meanwhile, the original functionality I mentioned earlier, passing that request onto the REST services layer, remains intact. The two requests are independent of each other; I don't have to wait for the first request to return before I make the second. So in a sense, the first request is asynchronous, but of course technically HTTP is a synchronous protocol. This is why I'm not sure how to go about this.

Let me know if I can be clearer. Any insight into the best way to accomplish this is appreciated.

    Thanks.
