  • SHDP future

I have opened ticket related to hadoop-2.x with how to fix instructions inside:

    https://jira.springsource.org/browse/SHDP-130

it got no activity, also there is very little activity on development branch - https://github.com/SpringSource/spri...commits/master

So can assume that SHDP will become just another dead project in springsource portfolio?

    Hi,

SHDP is definitely still being actively developed. There hasn't been a lot of development recently due to a number of reasons. Costin is now working on Elasticsearch Hadoop, so Mark and I have been trying to stay on top of the SHDP project as well as starting up Spring XD (which depends on SHDP). In addition we have transitioned from the VMware organization to Pivotal which have also slowed things down a bit, but should help, going forward, since Hadoop is a very important technology for Pivotal.

We recently made changes to add new distro support for Apache Hadoop 2.0.3-alpha and Pivotal HD 1.0. We will develop this further as we see what is needed for improved support for Hadoop 2.0 features.

We are also planning on adding support for Yarn soon, incorporating existing code developed by Janne Valkealahti (https://github.com/jvalkeal/spring-yarn).

Hope this answers your question. And, I'll make sure we address SHDP-130 in the upcoming 1.0.1 release.

    -Thomas
