I'm working on a project in which we're testing with jUnit Hibernate DAOs through Ant. The problem we're running into is that each TestCase starts up its own copy of the application context. Has anyone come up with a good solution with just starting 1 application context and running a set of different test classes under it?

Yes, Rod did. Take a look at AbstractSpringContextTests and its sub-classes. They are part of the mock source tree and distributed in spring-mock.jar.
