  • Parent beans with spring MVC - not possible?

    Hello all,

Is there really no way to configure a @Controller to inherit from an abstract parent bean?

Since many controllers in a large web app typically share some functionality, it is quite common to inherit from some base controller. This is, apparently, only possible using xml configuration. Which in turn means that the entire annotation framework with all the @RequestMapping conveniences is out of reach.

If only there was some way to mix annotation and configuration based Spring. For example to define a @Controller but use xml to specify properties and other things for which there either is no equivalent annotation or where it's just easier for one reason or another.
