  • Parent Definitions

    Hi,

I wanted to take some opinions on using parent bean definitions just to inherit class names. I know it does save some typing effort.

    thanks.

They do but they really shines when you are inheriting properties. The transactional proxy (with all the attributes) is probably one of the most popular example.
I personally wouldn't use the inheritance just for the classname - after all you do have to specify parent="theParentBean" which in the end saves only some characters.
However, when you deal with properties you don't just get the advantage of saving a lot of space but you can very easily propagate changes - modify the parent definition and all the children are updated.
