  • "Reasonable" logging Level

    Hi all!

    I realize this may be slightly subjective, but I'm currently using lo4j to get a flavor for the messages eminating from the spring framework, as well my own infant application. Currently I have the logging level set at

    log4j.rootCategory=DEBUG, A1

    log4j.category.org.springframework=DEBUG

    in my log4j.properties. This produces many, many entries from the framework. If I want to harvest entries at a little higher level, would I append for example, "beans" to the category? The obvious answer is "try it and see", but I wanted to field a response from someone who's experience level with the framework was deeper than mine...
    Thanks for reading and God Bless!

    Hi Peter

    In my experience even if you set the log4j.category.org.springframework.beans to DEBUG, you are still going to see a gazillion messages from Spring's IoC container. You could always try setting the level to INFO.

    What is it exactly that you want to see being logged from/by the Spring container? If it's just a flavour then man, you're taste buds are gonna be scorched by the DEBUG level, which is pretty verbose.

    Cheers
    Rick
