  • ApplicationContextAware class in separate JAR

I have an EAR with a WAR and a JAR. The WAR has a simple web app, and the JAR has my service layer as well as a common utility class that is ApplicationContextAware. I am using it to do bean lookups.

Before I had the classes that are in the JAR in my WAR and the ApplicationContextAware class would work perfectly. Upon initialization the setter would get called to set the applicationContext.

Now that I put that class in a separate JAR, this setter is not getting called. Does anyone have any insight on this?

In most cases you need to add the jar into the EAR classpath explicitly thought the EAR manifest. See the EAR structure and options which is part of the J2EE spec.
