  • Update BATCH_STEP_EXECUTION_CONTEXT SET and BATCH_STEP_EXECUTION running million time

The following two update statements are running more than a million times in an hour. This is causing lots of redo generation on the Oracle database. As a result now we are having 40-50 log switches in an hour.

    UPDATE HBE.BATCH_STEP_EXECUTION_CONTEXT SET SHORT_CONTEXT = :1 , SERIALIZED_CONTEXT = :2 WHERE STEP_EXECUTION_ID = :3

    UPDATE HBE.BATCH_STEP_EXECUTION set START_TIME = :1 , END_TIME = :2 , STATUS = :3 , COMMIT_COUNT = :4 , READ_COUNT = :5 , FILTER_COUNT = :6 , WRITE_COUNT = :7 , EXIT_CODE = :8 , EXIT_MESSAGE = :9 , VERSION = :10 , READ_SKIP_COUNT = :11 , PROCESS_SKIP_COUNT = :12 , WRITE_SKIP_COUNT = :13 , ROLLBACK_COUNT = :14 , LAST_UPDATED = :15 where STEP_EXECUTION_ID = :16 and VERSION = :17

Please let us know if anyone of you have come across this kind of an issue before. And the resolution that you had.

We found the problem that one of the batch jobs is going in infinite loops causing the commit count to update million times. We have fixed the batch jobs and the issue is resolved
