  • AspectWerkz integration

Jonas Boner has blogged about Spring/AspectWerkz integration at http://blogs.codehaus.org/people/jbo..._marriage.html

This looks very interesting: I'm hoping to find time to do some work with it and see whether we can do anything on the Spring side to help.

I'm interested to see whether Spring users are using AspectWerkz or are interested in this integration...

If you have any questions, I'll be meeting Jonas at JAOO (http://www.jaoo.dk) later this month, and we're going to talk about Spring/AspectWerkz integration.

    Rod ,

I dont understand how the integration will help the end user , especially from the weaving to Proxy implemented AOE.

I think Jonas's blog explains how it can be beneficial. Spring's own proxy-based AOP is an excellent, fairly simple, solution to the majority of everyday problems, such as tx mgt. However, sometimes there are situations where we need to go beyond proxy-based AOP (e.g. to advise fine-grained objects that are not managed by a Spring context), and I think it's very exciting that Spring can integrate so well with AspectJ and AspectWerkz, the leading dedicated AOP frameworks.

This integration is also potentially very beneficial for AspectWerkz users, as the ability to manage aspects using Dependency Injection adds a lot to the power of the aspect system.

Any progress on this integration so far?

            Tighter integration

Is there any good solution to this question posted on http://blogs.codehaus.org/people/jbo..._marriage.html

Nice idea. I have a question though - how can I inject into the aspect some bean declared in another Spring context? E.g., in a web application with Spring MVC, the Spring contexts are implicitly loaded by a servlet or listener, what if I need to inject a singleton bean created in one of those contexts into an aspect defined in spring-bean-config.xml?
