  • LTW for java web start applications

Does Spring 2.5 allow load time weaving of aspects in java web start applications?

It's not possible to specify a javaagent right now:

So, does Spring offer another way to use LTW in this scenario?

    Thanks,
    Holger

I have investigated the same issue and found no way of performing LTW for Web Start apps.
We now perform Compile Time Weaving as part of the build (ANT using iajc commands).
Another alternative is to use the Aspect J tools within Eclipse (meaning that all code is compiled as woven).
Upon reflection, I feel that this is the only options due to the performance overhead of performing Load Time Weaving.
Spring 2.5 does provide the spring-agent.jar as an alternative to specifying the aspectj weaver Jar which we have found more performant when perforimng LTW as part of integration tests running within the IDE (i.e before compile time weaving has been performed)
