  • Spring featured in another french magazine

In French magazine "Programmez" issue #71 (January 2005), a 3 page long article explains how to make some basic DAO stuff using Spring with hibernate.
The differences with EJB / CMP are briefly explained, then spring and hibernate are quickly presented and a little sample of java code and xml configuration to make a transactional save with hibernate is detailed.
The conclusion is that spring is easy to use, modularisable, and AOP brings a huge benefit while not being a standard (author fears quick changes), allowing for multiple way to make one action (the author fears the heterogeneity of the whole), hibernate only works with rdbms and spring doesn't offer clustering and failover features.
Still, it concludes saying that it's a new way to work on J2EE and that ejb only stand a chance if they go the JDO way.
