  • Spring Python 0.1.0 is released

    Do you use Python as well as Java in your coding efforts? I certainly do. And I wanted to have the same set of Spring tools available there as well. That is why I have created Spring Python.

    Spring Python is an offshoot of the Spring Framework, targeted for Python. It includes many features such as database templates, aspect oriented programming, and inversion-of-control.

    The site is , which includes documentation on using this framework, along with information on downloading source, or getting releases from sourceforge.

    Current release features include:
    * Database templates (w/MySQL support)
    * IoC container
    * AOP proxies
    * Remoting through Pyro
    * PetClinic demo application

    I am excited about getting the word out on this. The plan is to make Spring Python look and feel familiar to Java developers, while also supporting "pythonic" ways of doing things, to make it equally interesting to Python developers.

    It appears the main site is down right now. You can also get releases of Spring Python at

    Okay, main site is backup now.
