  • How to get started

    Hi,
I am interested in learning Spring RCP and I was curious and how I should get started. I have checked out the code and run the Pet Clinic sample. I have also found a blogger who is starting out with Spring RCP and is posting his progress as he goes, however, so far it onyl mentions checking out the code (http://www.ditchnet.org/wp/2005/05/1...-1-setting-up/)..

    any suggestions? Any tutorials, etc?

    Thanks.

You can look at what documentation is available on the wiki (http://opensource.atlassian.com/conf...+Documentation), but I'm not sure how up to date it is.

You can also do what (I believe) a lot of us have done: Have a look at the Pet Clinic sample, and start experimenting.

Yea I will certainly take a better look at the Pet Clinic sample, and I will check out the link you suggested.

Perhaps as I learn I can post what I have found, maybe some type of tutorial.

      Thanks.

I hope with the new release of Spring RCP there will be some kind of new and complete documentation ^_^

...any idea when the next release of Spring RCP is slated for?

...any idea if documentation, tutorial/user guide is being developed?

          thanks.

The Spring Wiki appears to be down. There was a post about it yesterday on the developer's mailing list. There was no response indicating when it would be available again.

just replying here...to hopefully get some more discussion started on how to get started with Spring RCP. The Pet Clinic example is a great example...however what about a tutorial based on that demo app...or something else?

IBM's site has an article about Spring and Swing..but not Spring RCP.

                Any other suggestions?

Also, is there a site to just get the Spring RCP binary? (i think the IBM article mentions there is such a site, but I havent found it).

                thanks.

Check out http://maven.codecrate.com/spring-rcp/ for the RCP binary that the IBM article mentions. It is linked to from the article on page 10 under Resources -> Get products and technologies.
