  • Swing pivot table for OLAP analysis

    Hi,

    Pivot table: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pivot_table
OLAP = Online Analytical Processing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLAP

I need a pivot table in my application.
I found JMagellanes (contains a Swing based Pivot Grid), which is free (opensource): http://jmagallanes.sourceforge.net/en/
I found Jide Pivot Grid, which is commercial and sources are not available : http://jidesoft.com/products/pivot.htm

Anyone knows of other possibilities, for example one which is better in combination with the Spring Rich Client Project?

    Thanks in advance,

    Theo

I don't intend to advertise Jidesoft (I'm not in any way affiliated with them), but I'm using their docking framework and some of their components in my open source project and they are working quite well. So I would imagine that their pivot table should also work well, although I have no direct experience.

They may not provide the source code but they will give you the binary for free if you have an open source project.

I have no experience with the JMagellanes control so I cannot comment on it.

As far as Spring RCP integration goes, I think that since we are talking about table controls, you won't get much in terms of integration (apart from maybe using the table models offered by the framework).

    Just my two cents.

I've played with JidePivot before and I can say it's a really nice component (integration with RCP is doable, I've done it before). I haven't checked OpenSwing yet though...
