  • Quoting from Spring Books

To the Java Development with the Spring Framework and Pro Spring teams,

Often times I see posts in which someone asks something that is answered perfectly by either "Professional Java Development with the Spring Framework" or "Pro Spring". Does either set of authors have any preferred guidelines when it comes to quoting from these books? Is it frowned upon in general?

I think a quote from one of these books holds a little more weight than the words of a random Spring forum user, so that is why I sometimes prefer to not write the concept in my own words.

    Thanks for the reply!

    -Arthur Loder

P.S. I'm sure I missed other popular Spring books; these two happen to be the ones on my bookshelf.

(try using the dev list also - you'll probably get a faster answer there).

I have no objection to quoting material from my books, so long as it is acknowledged. I am sure the publisher would similarly have no objection, so long as it's not more than a paragraph, so not infringing copyright.
