  • Spring for the Business Layer

Am planning to build a system using SEAM for the Webapplication & Spring for the business layer. I need to remote the business layer as webservices too for external application access.

what is the best way to communicate between the webapplication and the spring based business layer. I want the ability to scale the business layer independently.

    Greetings,

You'll get the best performance if you use a binary protocol such as Hessian. You can expose your beans as Hessian services with very simple configuration - check the Spring reference manual.
Don't forget to secure the exposed services, I think the natural choice is Spring Security.

      Update

We finally did a Spring RMI remoting for access to the business services from the web application. For other applicaitons, we used Apache CXF to set up a webservice interface for the same functionality.

Security for the business layer was implemented using ACEGI (Spring Security).
