  • how to deploy a webapp with privileged context?

if i try to deploy tomcat (original) manager webapp SecurityException occurs:

    Code:
java.lang.SecurityException: Servlet of class org.apache.catalina.manager.HTMLManagerServlet is privileged and cannot be loaded by this web application
    	org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase.invoke(AuthenticatorBase.java:525)
    	org.apache.catalina.valves.CometConnectionManagerValve.invoke(CometConnectionManagerValve.java:248)
    	com.springsource.server.servlet.tomcat.internal.ApplicationNameTrackingValve.invoke(ApplicationNameTrackingValve.java:74)
The root cause is understandable, because this webapp was hot-deployed and is non-privileged.
In standard tomcat you can set a Context to privileged.
How to do it with dm-server?

Out of curiosity, why would you want to deploy the standard Tomcat Manager to the SpringSource dm Server?

It is not currently possible to deploy a web application as privileged on the dm Server.

      Hi Sam,

ja, the question was a little bit curious.
Some companies may integrate dm-server into their existing monitoring environment, e.g. ManageEngine Applications Manager. A simple way for standard tomcat is to use the manage webapp.

        Tomcat manager in Spring DM

Any luck in installing tomcat manager in Spring DM?. Btw, are you thinking of using the tomcat:deploy feature to install your wars to Spring DM??
